I-ESA 2014 - March, 24th-28th 2014

The I-ESA'14 Conference is being organized by the École des Mines d'Albi-Carmaux and INTEROP-VLab (International Virtual Laboratory for Enterprise Interoperability) from the 24th of March 2014 to the 28th of March 2014 in Albi (France):

Participants will have the opportunity to attend presentations of the most up-to-date scientific results on interoperability and to hear prestigious keynote speakers:

Gérald Santucci Sergio Gusmeroli Wil van der Aalst Luis M. Camarinha-Matos Bartel Van De Walle

Interoperability for agility, resilience and plasticity of collaborations

Actually, agility is a crucial concept in collaborative situations. Consequently, interoperability in an agile framework is definitely one of the next main steps in the management of interoperability. We suggest considering the concept of agility according to four main aspects:

Consequently, agility in interoperability may be defined as: “the ability of an interoperable system to detect its potential unsuitability to the current environment and to perform a relevant adaptation according to its composing systems, in a reactive and efficient manner”. This definition may be simply and roughly formulated as:

Agility = (Detection + Adaptation) × (Reactiveness + Efficiency)

In an ecosystem more and more fluid, enterprises and organizations have to take part into collaborations and to perform interoperability. However, this interoperability should also be agile in order to ensure resilience and plasticity of collaborative systems.

Context

Enterprises (of any kind) embedded in today's economic environment are deeply dependent on their ability to take part into collaborations. Consequently, it is strongly required for them to be able to take part into emerging, potentially opportunistically, collaborative networks. The concept of “interoperability” has been defined by INTEROP-VLab as “The ability of an enterprise system or application to interact with others at a low cost in a flexible approach”. Consequently, interoperability of organisations appears as a major issue to succeed in building on the fly emerging enterprise networks.

Objective

I-ESA brings together the world's leading researchers and practitioners in the area of enterprise interoperability: it is a unique forum for the exchange of visions, ideas, research results and industrial experiences, dealing with a wealth of interoperability research subjects for business, enterprise applications and software.

The industry will find at I-ESA'14 an outstanding opportunity to exchange experience and problems on business interoperability in their daily operations. I-ESA series of conferences have become a forum where the worlds of industry and research meet and share experience, ideas and problems on different interoperability aspects.

I-ESA´14 is definitely "the event" for those who want to know the future, the forefront of research and the industry expertise/viewpoint in this very important domain of Enterprise Interoperability.
